Sayaji Hotels introduces business hotel in Pune To come up with 15 Barbeque Nation by end 2009 Thursday, April 09, 2009, 17:30 Hrs [IST]
Sayaji Hotels Ltd has launched its third business hotel, Sayaji Pune, at Wakad in Pune. It claims to be the first hotel in the world to offer all its room controls (working) through an iPod (touch screen variant). Approximate investment in the hotel is Rs 135 Crore. The property will be owned and managed by Sayaji Hotels. The group plans to come up with 15 Barbeque Nation (Sayaji Hotels’ restaurant initiative) outlets by end 2009 in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The investment in each Barbeque Nation is around Rs 3.5 Crore. Sayaji Hotels also plans to come up with budget hotels.
Spread across an area of two and half acres, Sayaji Pune, a nine storey hotel has 252 rooms (including 244 standard rooms and eight suites); 24x7 coffee shop, 'The Portico', with 120 covers; live grill barbeque restaurant, 'Barbeque Nation' with 130 covers and lounge and bar, 'Quorum' with 40 covers. Sajjid Dhannani, Managing Director, Sayaji Hotels Ltd says, “The global business traveller’s needs are increasing and hence, Sayaji Pune will offer personalised services to its guests; this will be the hotel’s USP. The hotel claims to be the first in the world to offer personal butler and personal Chef services in every room.”
Informing about the hotel’s star rating, Dhannani says, “Presently, star rating in Indian hotels has lost its value. We would rather rate our hotel in the three star category and then provide deluxe services to our guest. We understand that for all those who are away from home on work, the most important thing they miss is the comfort of home. We saw the need and decided to step in and fulfill it.” The company successfully displayed this model to its guests after utilising customer feedback from its Vadodara and Indore hotels, adds Dhannani.
Hotel operations will be phase wise, with 100 rooms being operational in the first phase. The hotel offers basic gym facilities and an individual reception desk on each floor. Each guest room has 5000 movies, 10000 songs and Internet services on an iPod (complimentary), along with a personal computer. The iPod allows control of all major room functions from television, air conditioning, lighting, Internet, doors, music system and bill viewing; the doors are all operated and controlled at the touch of screen. The rack rate for the standard rooms will start at Rs 5500. Every suite has an individual massage chair and Jacuzzi. The hotel also has an art gallery at the lobby level. The entire property is Wi Fi enabled.
“We have a database of around 2500 corporates, who we will target. Located in close proximity to Hinjewadi, Chandni Chowk, Aundh, Baner and Wakad, Sayaji will offer complete hospitality services. Eventually, we will be looking at 350 staff members,” adds Dhannani. However, the group has not zeroed down on budget hotel locations yet, but the first one will come up in Indore via a lease agreement.
